1 Imix (May 27)

1 Imix (May 27): In general, the Maya seldom do ceremonies on Imix days, though today they will welcome in the new trecena at the sacred place dedicated to the number 1. Imix symbolizes the unconscious. It is just as tricky and treacherous as it is enchanting and seductive. Imix is “the Left Hand of God.”  The world is filled with psychological perils and stresses. Upon this day the Maya pray for good mental health, both for themselves and for all those around them. This day has a strong connection with water; to be close to a flowing river or stream or the ocean is beneficial upon this day. This is yet another day to pay attention to potential wisdom from our dreams.

If Imix if considered “the Left Hand of God”, what is considered “the Right Hand of God”?

oh…and the day was, went to a photography exhibit Yousef Karsh and so many changes in the agenda….but from the exhibit came…”the importance of light & balance” and his words ‘There is a brief moment when all that there is in a mans mind & soul & spirit may be reflected through his eyes, his hands, his attitude. This is he moment to record, this is the elusive moment of Truth.”

I never heard any particular day-sign referred to as the “right hand.”

I think the basic idea is that most of us live in the world of ordinary consensus reality, which is the “right hand.” But those born upon an Imix day are frequently uncomfortable with ordinary reality, and relate more easily to the “left-hand” world of dreams and visions. At their absolute best, this produces individuals who can bring us into contact with deep archetypal realms — both Walt Disney and Frederico Fellini were born on Imix days. At their worst, these folks get captured by the power of the unconscious, and slip into delusional states, obsessions, and so on.
